la:nd studio is working with BDW in collaboration with Bakerwell Ecologists and Landscape Visual, on this large 250 housing and community scheme in Kent.
We see it as an opportunity to push the boundaries of typical house building and create a landscape and green space that is sustainably led as well as a hub for the community.
It's important to us that our projects are wildlife friendly, and so in this one we have incorporated long grass meadow plantings, lines of native trees and shrubs and grass mounds into the design. We would also like to include an allotment and a children's play area, which would be made from natural wood, and Sustainable Urban Drainage (SuDS) pond planning, which is a natural way to manage drainage and break down pollutants.
We often scale up with other companies, such as Landscape Visual, with whom we've worked alongside for a number of years on several other projects.
