87 Preston Road, Brighton

87 Preston Road, Brighton is locally listed and sits next to the Grade II listed London Road brick railway Viaduct. It was designed by the architect Thomas Simpson in the Victorian era and was originally a school building, which first opened in 1880.

The building has remained a premises for education. City College was its most recent occupant but, since moving to a new location, the building has now been left empty.

Yelo Architects have been granted planning permission to transform the building into 25 apartments. The building will retain its historic character and its overall appearance will not be altered.

We are designing the outdoor communal space for the residents. The space will include cycle storage, natural plantings and convenient walkways. We have also designed the additional outdoor private spaces within the ground floor rear flat gardens.
