The garden has a subtle structure that responds to the proportions of the architecture, defined by clipped hedges and water. Beyond these elements, the character is softer, more organic and natural.

Large drifts of grasses, including Pennisetum and Sesleria, soften the lawn and are punctuated with late-flowering perennials such as Helenium and Echinacea. Around the house, the planting becomes more varied, with herbs and flowers for cutting. Grasses continue through these areas to tie the scheme together and provide a soft textural contrast to the clipped hedges.
