This mid-century house was extended and modernised, providing the opportunity to rethink the garden.

The original landscape had been designed by John Brookes in the 1970s, which added an interesting layer of history and encouraged us to reference some of his approach to place-making.

The garden uses water and naturalistic planting to create a softer, more ecological landscape. The upper pond feeds into a stream and then into the lower lake, creating a continuous point of interest that threads through the garden.
