Linear Paving and Prairie Planting
Twyford Moor

The garden project occurred concurrently with a substantial renovation of the 1970s house situated within the South Downs National Park, offering breathtaking views of the River Itchen valley. The garden design mirrors the house's prominent linear structure, evident in the layout and alignment of pathways. The choice of plants was pivotal to the project's success, requiring a natural and subtle approach to ensure a harmonious connection with the surrounding landscape. At its core, a central spine of Switch Grass (Panicum virginicum) serves as the foundation of the planting design, contrasting with the more informal groups of perennials and ornamental grasses.
