Frequently Asked Questions

Where are we based?
Our office is located in Brighton and therefore many of our projects are based in the South. However, we are very happy to work in any location in the UK and overseas. Just send us an email and photo and we'll get back to you.

What type of gardens do we design?
It does depend on the situation. We love to combine grasses and perennials with trees and shrubs to provide structure.  Good examples of this style can be found on on Piet Oudolf's website. We also love the simplicity of green-architecture gardens; clipped hedges, lawns and avenues of trees  pioneered by renowned landscape architect Jacques Wirtz.

How much does landscape design cost?
All fees are referenced to the Society of Garden Designers fee guidance calculator, which is roughly 10% of the overall build cost. The design fee is broken down into stages which are outlined here. Generally projects have a minimum build cost of £20-30k but it's probably better to speak to us if the budget is tight.

Initial consultations
We can visit the garden to offer advice whcih allows us to provide a fee proposal. This is also a good opportunity to sketch some ideas and look through some books. Our design process is here

Standalone Planting Design
In some cases gardens can be tranformed by replanting. We will happily provide advice and plans to specify an order. Send us photos of your project and we will get back to you. In general, planting areas need to be greater than 20m2.

We source and supply our plants for your landscape design project. The prices we offer are generally much lower than typical online suppliers.

Do you work on planning applications?

We have a wide range of experience, working with Architects, Arboculturalists, Exterior Lighting designers, Ecologists and Transport consultants to produce comprehensive planning application packages. Working within the SDNP requires a Landscape-Led approach to all new builds. In these situations we team up with Landscape Visual to provide LVIA's.
